Grading Percentage Breakdown (New): 
80% Classroom Assessments ( Tests, Quizzes, Quarterly assessments, Projects, Current Events etc)


20% Learning Activities (Homework, Classwork, Crosswords etc)


  • Typically you will receive 20-30 assignments per quarter



 Class Participation and general expectations: 

  • General Class Discussion

  • A Leadership Role in Group Activities

  • Reading in Class

  • Asking / Responding to Questions

  • Note Taking in Class / Binders

  • Following Oral and Written Directions

  • Positive Interaction with Peers and Teachers



 Test / Quiz Information: 

  • Two or three tests will be given each quarter and they will always be announced to the students.

  • Quizzes are given numerous times throughout the quarter and will be either announced or unannounced at the discretion of the teacher.



 Homework Information: 

  • Homework is given a minimum of twice weekly.  Homework is to be handed in on time or no credit will be given.  There is no reason that a homework assignment should be late with the exception of illness.  My E-Mail address (pdercole@cpsed.net) and website (https://mrdercole.tripod.com/) are provided so that you can contact me and stay up to date on assignments if you are ill or if you have any questions about an assignment or a class.  This will allow you to keep up with the work and avoid having late or missing assignments. The E-Mail address should only be used for educational purposes. 




 Extra Help: 

  • Extra help is always available.  The parents and the students are encouraged to contact me if there are any questions or concerns.  As long as I am given advance notice I will be willing to stay after school and provide extra help for the students who are interested.  You can also email any questions that might arise. I am also available before school most days.
